Pedal Troubleshooting

Updated on May 30, 2024

Manual Update of Pedals

If you are experiencing any issues with your pedals, it is always a good start to do a manual firmware update. This guide will help you manually updating your pedals, to make sure they has the latest version.

Prerequisites:

You must have installed the latest version of RaceHub™, to ensure the latest drivers are installed.

  1. Disconnect you pedals.
  2. Make sure the USB cable is connected to the PC.
  3. Open RaceHub™, if not already running.
  4. Press and hold the throttle to 100%.
  5. While holding the throttle, insert the USB cable into the pedals.
  6. A dialog will pop up in RaceHub™ informing you that your pedals has been detected in update mode.
  7. Press “Update Pedals”.
  8. Wait for the update to finish.

The pedals now have the latest firmware version, and the automatic update notification should now work for future updates.

Failed to update the device because the device wasn’t detected in update mode

The “Failed to update the device because the device wasn’t detected in update mode” error can be caused by several things.

Current firmware too old

Most commonly, the issue is caused by the current firmware on the pedals being too old. To solve the issue caused by too old firmware, follow these steps.

  1.  Export any custom presets you might have saved and turn off/disconnect your Asetek gear
  2. Go to this link, scroll down to “earlier versions”, and download and install RaceHub 2.5.3: https://www.asetek.com/simsports/racehub/
  3. Turn on/connect your Asetek pedals and update the firmware (if the pop-up does not show automatically, hold the throttle at 100% when connecting the pedals. This will get the pedals into manual update mode)
  4. Turn off/disconnect your Asetek gear
  5. Reinstall RaceHub 3.0 from the same link as above.
  6. Turn on/connect your Asetek pedals and update the firmware (if the pop-up does not show automatically, hold the throttle at 100% when connecting the pedals. This will get the pedals into manual update mode)

Now, your pedals are updated to the latest firmware. We recommend that you always keep your Asetek gear updated to the latest firmware release. RaceHub will automatically let you know when new firmware has been released.

Conflicting third-party drivers

If the above mentioned solution does not resolve the issue, the issue most likely stems from a clash between Asetek’s drivers and other third-party drivers. From what we’ve seen, the offending driver is usually a Guillemot DFU driver. This driver will have to be removed for RaceHub™ to update your pedals. The Guillemot driver may be needed for users with Thrustmaster equipment, so you may have to re-install the driver afterwards by re-installing the appropriate Thrustmaster device drivers. If this guide is successful for you, your pedals will no longer be affected by the Guillemot driver, so there should be no issues with updating afterwards, if you re-install the Guillemot driver.

  1. Check that your pedals, in update mode, show up as the Guillemot device, or other device.
    1. Disconnect your pedals from the PC, and close RaceHub™ if it is running.
    2. Press and hold the throttle, while reconnecting the pedals. This will force them to go into update mode. This only lasts 15 seconds unless you keep holding down the throttle.
    3. Open Device Manager. You can do this by writing Device Manager in your search bar at the bottom or in the Start Menu.
    4. At the top menu of the Device Manager click View followed by Devices by container.
    5. Find the “Invicta Pedals” or “Invicta Pedals – DFU” or “Pedals – DFU’ device and click the arrow on the left side of it to open it. The name varies depending on the software version in the pedals.
    6. Check that there is only one device inside the Invicta Pedals device. If there is more than one device, then this guide may not to work.
    7. If the device inside the Invicta Device is not named “Invicta Pedals” or “Invicta Pedals – DFU” or a name that is related to Asetek, then you will have to uninstall the conflicting driver. The above example uses the Guillemot driver which is the driver this guide focuses on removing. Other drivers may have similar procedure, but we cannot guarantee it. Be very careful with removing unknown drivers!
  2. Remove the Guillemot Driver
    1. Delete the following folders (requires admin privileges):
      1. C:\Program Files\Guillemot
      2. C:\Program Files(x86)\Guillemot
    2. Right click the Guillemot STM DFU Device inside the Invicta pedals device.
      1. Click Uninstall device.
      2. Enable the checkbox Delete the driver software for this device.
      3. Click Uninstall.
  1. Wait for the pedals to restart into update mode, and until the device manager window has updated
  2. The pedal device should now look like this, with it’s respective name:
  3. If not, please reinstall RaceHub as this will reinstall the Asetek driver.
  1. Update your pedals.
    1. If the above steps were successful, you should now be able to update your pedals with RaceHub™. Release the throttle and let the pedals start up normally, by waiting for them to reset, or reconnecting them to your PC.
    2. Open RaceHub and go to the pedals menu.
    3. Click the i icon on the right side of the menu to open the i-menu and click the update button. RaceHub™ will now update your bootloader to one that uses a newer driver that does not conflict with others. It is VERY important that the pedals are not disconnected while this takes place. RaceHub™ will inform you of its progress during the process. When the bootloader is updated, the latest pedal update will be installed.

The Pedals will not register in the RaceHub™.

Check if the different LEDs on the pedals’ print are turned on – located behind the transparent plastic cover where you connect the USB cable.

  • Light in LED 1 verifies that the pedal gets power.
  • Light in LED 3 verifies that communication between pedals and pc has been established.
  • Light in LED 5 verifies that the clutch is connected.
  1. Check if the cable is inserted properly in the pedals and PC.
  2. Try to remove the USB-cable from the PC and insert the cable again.
  3. Try restarting RaceHub™.
  4. Update RaceHub™ to the latest version.
  5. Update the firmware.

Pedal face plate seems loose

  1. Make sure the screws are tightened.
  2. If not, use allen key to tighten the screws.

Issues with calibration

  1. Make sure the thumb screws are properly tightened to ensure the pedals angle doesn’t get out of position.
  2. Remember to adjust calibration, dead zone, and pedal mapping when you have mechanically adjusted your pedals.

The calibration column doesn’t stand still while the pedals are in rest position

  1. Try to re-calibrate your pedals in RaceHub™.
  2. Set your deadzone % to another level.

No throttle or cluch input being registered

If your throttle or clutch does not give any signal when pressed, it can be due to a damaged magnet holder on the right side of the pedal arm. Spare magnet holders can be ordered from here.

My pedals don’t register when I connect to a non-Asetek branded of wheelbase

The Asetek SimSports® Invicta™ Pedals are not compatible with connection to third party wheel bases. Instead, plug the cable into your PC.

My Pedals don’t register when I connect to my console (Xbox/PlayStation)

Asetek SimSports® Pedals are not compatible with consoles.

My pedals don’t register in game

  1. Check if input is registered in RaceHub.
  2. Make sure the game is properly set up in the “Game Setup” menu in “Settings” in RaceHub.
  3. Look if a “Game setup” guide is available HERE:

The clutch doesn’t register in the RaceHub

  1. Make sure that the cable connection between clutch to the brake and throttle is properly inserted, by following the steps described in the user-manual here.
  2. Check if the different LEDs on the pedals’ print are turned on – located behind the transparent plastic cover where you connect the USB cable.
  • Light in LED 1 verifies that the pedal gets power.
  • Light in LED 3 verifies that communication between pedals and pc has been established.
  • Light in LED 5 verifies that the clutch is connected

There is no pressure resistance in the brake cylinder

  1. Check if the elastomer is properly inserted and the thumb screw fastened, if not insert the preferred elastomer and lock it with
    the thumb screw.
  2. If this doesn’t help, please contact your point of purchase.

The brake pedal feels too soft or too strong

  1. Change the elastomer to the preferred hardness, described in the user-manual (https://www.asetek.com/simsports/product/
    invicta-pedals-brake-and-throttle/).
  2. Make sure to tighten the thumb screw to your preferred setting.

Experience squeaking noise from your brake pedal

  1. Try lubricating your cylinder rod with PTFE Dry lube or mineral oil.
  2. Try lubricating other moving parts, i.e. brake clevis lock pin. with PFTE Dry Lube.
  3. If the noise persists, please contact your point of purchase.

The brake cylinder is loose and can be moved from side to side.

The movement of the brake cylinder is intended and perfectly normal. The brake cylinder must be able to move, as there can be different tolerances depending on the angle of the pedal. The bottom bearing is a spherical bearing that can move in both directions.

I experience a squeak from the throttle pedal

Typically you need to lubricate the following:

  • Lock-pin
  • Throttle rod
  • Spring on the pedal arm

We recommend using PFTE dry spray lubrication for the throttle when squeaks occur.

Please also be aware that the plastic spring holder can be flipped and this will also make a squeak.
