Asetek Allowed U.S. Patent on ISAC™ Data Center Liquid Cooling Technology
Asetek today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has allowed a patent on the company’s groundbreaking RackCDU™ In-Server Air Conditioning (ISAC™) liquid cooling technology for data centers.
ISAC is a hot water liquid cooling system where servers operate without drawing in cooling air from the data center. The three principle cost drivers for cooling data centers are the need to chill, condition and move air. ISAC cooled servers operate without the need for air conditioning air chilling and without concern for air quality, sharply reducing operating costs and the capital costs to build or expand data centers. The technology is compatible with industry standard x86 servers as well as upcoming form factors.
“This patent is an exciting milestone for the company, as we believe the game changing ISAC-technology will be a key product for Asetek’s growth in the data center market going forward,” says André Eriksen, Asetek’s founder and CEO. He continues, “We have a solution with the potential for solving one of the largest and fastest growing energy problems on the planet and I think the ISAC has a bright future as energy consumption, density and operating costs of data centers are just going up.”
About RackCDU ISACTM
Asetek RackCDU ISAC is innovative hot water data center liquid cooling technology that combines direct-to-chip and in-server air conditioners to remove nearly all of the heat from servers with an all-liquid path and rejects it into ambient outdoor air without chilling. This enables cooling cost reductions in excess of 50%, density increases at the rack and data center level, and enables operation without concern for air quality. RackCDU ISAC also returns cooling liquid a temperature suitable for recovery of all the server energy removed by the system for reuse in facility heating and cooling.
